Qual a tua fonte de inspiração?
What is your source of inspiration?
Pode ser um livro, um filme, uma música, uma recordação, uma imagem, uma história; qualquer coisa que provoque em mim uma emoção e a vontade de exteriorizar essa emoção.
It could be a book, a movie, a song, a memory, an image, a story; Anything that tease me an emotion and the desire to express this emotion.
Em alguns trabalhos, principalmente nos mais antigos, nota-se alguma proximidade com os trabalhos da Paula Rego, o que nos dizes sobre isto?
In some artworks, especially in the older ones, there is some proximity to Paula Rego's, what can you tell us about it?
Quando vejo alguma entrevista da artista Paula Rego, revejo-me no que ela diz, os seus gostos, pontos de vistas, devemos ser pessoas parecidas ( acho)... talvez seja por isso que se encontre algumas parecenças, nos meus trabalhos mais antigos também contava histórias e essas histórias também eram de meninas e também representava muito cães, gatos, pássaros. Depois , confesso, forcei um pouco esse afastamento porque chegava a arreliar-me ouvir sempre que os meus trabalhos lembravam a Paula Rego. É uma artista que eu admiro muito , talvez a artista plástica portuguesa de que mais gosto
When I see some interview of the artist Paula Rego, I go back to what she says, her tastes, points of view, we must be similar people (I think) ... maybe that's why some similarities are found in my older works. She also told stories and these stories were also with girls and also represented many dogs, cats, birds. Later, I confess, I forced a little this retreat because it came to provoke me whenever my work reminded Paula Rego. She is an artist that I admire a lot, maybe the Portuguese plastic artist that I like more.
Há algum trabalho que gostas mais do que outros?
Is there a artwork you like more than others?
Sim, há sempre unsque se destacam, aqueles que me ficaram na memória por acaso já não estão comigo, um está em Itália, outro na Irlanda…um aqui em Portugal … outro está numa parede em Alfama.
Yes, there are always some that stand out, those that have remained in my memory by chance are no longer with me, one is in Italy, another in Ireland… one here in Portugal …another one is on a wall in Alfama.
O que sentes quando vendes uma pintura de que gostas muito?
What do you feel when you sell a painting that you like a lot?
Feliz, só os sinto meus enquanto os executo. O momento da criação traz-me felicidade e prazer , depois de terminado pertence ao outros. Sou muito interesseira com os meus trabalhos, amo-os enquanto eles me dão prazer , é o ato de pintar e o que antecede à sua realização que me satisfaz.
Happy, I only feel mine as I execute them. The moment of creation brings me happiness and pleasure, once finished belongs to others. I am very self-interest in my work, I love them while they give me pleasure, it´s the act of painting and the one that precedes it, which satisfies me.
