Room with a View, de Sonia Aniceto, apresenta uma nova série de trabalhos onde desenho, pintura e ponto livre se fundem sobre drop paper — um suporte fibroso que acolhe as tensões do fio e se transforma, camada após camada, num material orgânico, flexível e tridimensional. Ao converter o papel em quase tecido, a artista expande o campo da pintura e introduz uma dimensão escultórica subtil.
Room with a View, by Sonia Aniceto, presents a new series of works where drawing, painting and free stitching merge on drop paper — a fibrous support that absorbs the tension of the thread and transforms, layer after layer, into an organic, flexible and three-dimensional material. By converting paper into something akin to fabric, the artist expands the field of painting and introduces a subtle sculptural dimension.
Sonia Aniceto (1976, Portugal)
Sónia Aniceto (Lisboa, 1976) vive e trabalha em Bruxelas. Licenciada em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, realizou um programa Erasmus na Academia de Belas Artes de Bruxelas, onde aprofundou o estudo da tapeçaria contemporânea. Foi artista residente no Centro Cultural Depianofabriek e colaborou, entre 2000 e 2006, nos ateliers de cenografia da Ópera Real La Monnaie, experiência que marcou o seu percurso artístico. O seu trabalho tem sido amplamente reconhecido a nível internacional, com nomeações e distinções como os Prémios Talento (2007), seleção para a coleção Canvas/RTBF no Bozar – Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, e participações em exposições internacionais de arte têxtil contemporânea, destacando-se a Contextile (Guimarães), Scythia (Ucrânia) e o prémio “Técnica e Originalidade” na ART-Spanner (Essen, Alemanha). Sónia Aniceto (Lisbon, 1976) lives and works in Brussels. She holds a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon and completed an Erasmus program at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, where she deepened her study of contemporary tapestry. She was an artist-in-residence at the Depianofabriek Cultural Center and collaborated, between 2000 and 2006, in the scenography workshops of the Royal Opera La Monnaie, an experience that significantly shaped her artistic path.Her work has been widely recognized internationally, with nominations and distinctions such as the Talento Awards (2007), selection for the Canvas/RTBF collection at Bozar – Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, and participation in international contemporary textile art exhibitions, including Contextile (Guimarães), Scythia (Ukraine), and the “Technique and Originality” award at ART-Spanner (Essen, Germany).
