A obra escultórica que Álvaro de Matias propõe na exposição Mankind tem como objeto principal a figura humana. Um conjunto de esculturas feitas em bronze ou resina de poliéster modeladas em cera, que combinam realismo com expressionismo. Uma busca de significados, de interpretação e de um imaginário, assumindo como real não a figura humana, mas a existência de uma alma cultural e social que contém cada comunidade, cada grupo social. Um espaço fictício que transmite uma ideia de seres que sofrem, ou não, perante uma realidade que lhes é apresentada.

The sculptural work that Álvaro de Matias proposes in the exhibition Mankind has the human figure as it's main object. A set of sculptures made in bronze or polyester resin modeled in wax, which combine realism with expressionism. A search for meanings, interpretation and an imaginary, assuming as real not the human figure, but the existence of a cultural and social soul that contains each community, each social group. A fictitious space that transmits an idea of ​​beings that suffer, or not, before a reality that is presented to them.
