A exposição “Tomorrow” da artista Duma Arantes é uma ideia de futuro. Um ambiente vanguardista e tecnológico. O volume das figuras é apresentado por gradações de sombra bem definidas, numa forma muito gráfica e limpa, remetendo-nos à ideia do mundo digital. O trabalho de Duma incide principalmente na figura feminina, retratando de uma forma tipicamente enigmática. Nas suas pinturas é recorrente a introdução de barras pretas, que surgem da ideia de cinemascópio, como se um frame fosse congelado de um filme, representando uma vida, uma personagem… uma história.
“Tomorrow” Duma Arantes solo exhibition is an idea of the future. An avant-garde and technological environment. The volume of the figures is presented by well-defined gradations of shadow, in a very graphic and clean way, referring to the idea of the digital world. Duma's work focuses mainly on the female figure, portraying in a typically enigmatic way. In her paintings, the introduction of black bars is recurrent, that emerge from the idea of a cinemascope, as if a frame was frozen from a film, representing a life, a character... a story.

" Este é um futuro vanguardista e tecnológico onde o design e o minimalismo se apoderam do ambiente e das personagens, através de linhas simples e limpas, elementos gráficos, códigos e circuitos. No meu trabalho, muitas vezes é o fundo que rodeia as personagens que fortalece o ambiente do tema. Neste caso, o Futurismo. Criei linhas simples que lembram formas hexagonais, muito utilizadas em imagens e filmes de ficção científica. A inspiração para este tema surgiu, de uma necessidade de olhar em frente, de avançar para novas etapas e isso levou-me a uma imensa pesquisa sobre Futurismo e Tecnologia, onde livros, séries, filmes e documentários, fizeram parte destes 11 meses de trabalho intenso.”
" This is an avant-garde and technological future where design and minimalism take over the environment and characters, through simple and clean lines, graphic elements, codes and circuits. Often it´s the background that surrounds the characters that strengthens the environment of the theme. In this case, Futurism. I created simple lines that resemble hexagonal shapes, widely used in science-fiction images and films. The inspiration for this theme came from a need to look ahead, to move to new stages and this led me to an immense research on Futurism and Technology, where books, series, films and documentaries were part of these 11 months of intense work."
