Em The 8th Petal, Duma apresenta um novo corpo de trabalho que explora a força invisível que se constrói através da experiência, da resiliência e da transformação. Inspirada no simbolismo da flor, da espada e da figura da guerreira japonesa, a artista cria uma metáfora visual sobre as batalhas silenciosas que moldam a identidade humana.
A “oitava pétala”, concebida especificamente para esta exposição, representa aquilo que permanece oculto: a coragem discreta, as cicatrizes invisíveis e a capacidade de recomeçar. Fiel à sua linguagem pictórica, marcada pela representação da figura feminina, Duma convida o público a refletir sobre a beleza da vulnerabilidade, da permanência e da força que nasce da transformação.
In The 8th Petal, Duma presents a new body of work exploring the invisible strength built through experience, resilience, and transformation. Inspired by the symbolism of the flower, the sword, and the figure of the Japanese warrior woman, the artist creates a visual metaphor for the silent battles that shape human identity.
The “eighth petal”, conceived specifically for this exhibition, represents that which remains hidden: quiet courage, invisible scars, and the ability to begin again. True to her pictorial language, characterised by her representation of the female figure, Duma invites the viewer to reflect on the beauty of vulnerability, endurance, and the strength that emerges through transformation.

Duma (1973, Lisboa) estudou Publicidade no IADE e Desenho e Pintura na renomada Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa. A sua obra artística é uma fascinante exploração da figura feminina, caracterizada por uma abordagem que transcende o convencional, ao investigar nuances e contrastes, as suas personagens capturam as dicotomias presentes no comportamento feminino, revelando a interseção entre mistério e compreensão ou fragilidade e força. O processo criativo de Duma geralmente começa com a seleção de um tema, sobre o qual ela elabora uma pesquisa e experimentação através de desenhos e estudos da composição gráfica e cromática. Embora a figura humana seja a principal referência do seu trabalho, outros elementos são utilizados para reforçar o tema escolhido. Desde 1994, o seu trabalho tem sido representado por diversas galerias internacionais, abrangendo cidades em toda a Europa, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, China, Singapura e Austrália.
Duma (1973, Lisbon) studied Advertising at IADE and Drawing and Painting at the renowned Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes de Lisboa. Her artistic work is a fascinating exploration of the female figure, characterized by an approach that transcends the conventional, by searching into nuances and contrasts, her characters capture the dichotomies present in female behavior, revealing the intersection between mystery and understanding or fragility and strength. Duma's creative process generally begins with the selection of a theme, on which she carries out research and experimentation through drawings and studies of graphic and chromatic composition. Although the human figure is the main reference in his work, other elements are used to reinforce the chosen theme. Since 1994, her work has been represented by several international galleries, spanning cities across Europe, United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Singapore and Australia.
