A exposição “Indelible” apresenta o conjunto de trabalhos que o artista-tatuador Carlos Mendes (CIAS) tem desenvolvido ao longo do último ano. Nesta sua primeira exposição Cias reinterpreta grandes obras dos mestres da arte, pigmentando as peles dos seus modelos com todos os simbolismos das histórias que estes carregam. Obras de Michelangelo, Caravaggio ou Bernini são cobertas pelos vários estilos de tatuagens, desde o maori ao religioso, com a intenção de reforçar a mensagem que a tatuagem é uma forma de arte ancestral.
The exhibition “Indelible” presents the set of works that the tattoo artist Carlos Mendes (CIAS) has been developing over the last year. In his first exhibition Cias reinterprets the great works of the masters of art, pigmenting the skins of their models with all the symbolism of the stories they carry. Works by Michelangelo, Caravaggio or Bernini are covered by various styles of tattoos, from the Maori to the religious, with the intention of reinforcing the message that tattooing is an ancestral art form

Sendo um apaixonado por história e admirador de arte antiga, pareceu-me lógico combinar ambos com conceitos que giram em torno das histórias e mitos presentes na génese de grande parte da nossa cultura."
" In this exhibition I wanted to pay tribute to many of the artists that I admire, and to the art that I practice on a daily basis (tattoo). Being passionate about history and an admirer of ancient art, it seemed logical to combine both with concepts that revolve around stories and myths present in the genesis of much of our culture. "
