Flatland encontra significância no romance homónimo do séc XIX, de Edwin A. Abbot, apropriando-se de algumas das suas premissas numa tentativa de as olhar à luz do agora, e, muito particularmente, da profunda crise de identidade que caracteriza o nosso tempo. Uma série de pequenas impressões, manifestadas através da pintura, que pretendem levar-nos, em pequenos sopros, ao confronto com a reflexão da identidade, num tempo em que o “eu” se constrói, cada vez mais, como simulacro.
Flatland finds significance in the eponymous novel of the 19th century, by Edwin A. Abbot, appropriating some of its premises in an attempt to look at them in the light of now, and, in particular, the profound identity crisis that characterizes our time. A series of small impressions, manifested through painting, that intend to take us, in small breaths, to the confrontation with the reflection of the identity, in a time when the “I” is constructed, more and more, as a simulacrum.
