Como defines o teu trabalho?
How do you define your work?
Meu trabalho incide sobre a cidade e para a cidade. Neste sentido eu uso a fotografia para falar sobre as questões urbanas que me inquietam e assim propor novos olhares sobre este espaço. Eu acredito que a cidade é sobretudo um espaço de possibilidade, e pode ser compreendida como uma interface, ou seja, uma entidade que essencialmente permite conexões e trocas entre coisas diferentes. Assim a minha Fotografia, no momento, acompanha isso...ela se conecta com o pensar e o fazer de outras áreas como a Escultura e o Design, e se transforma conforme essas conexões.
My work focuses on the city and the city. In this sense, I use photography to talk about the urban issues that concern me and thus propose new perspectives on this space. I believe that the city is above all a space of possibility, and can be understood as an interface, that is, an entity that essentially allows connections and exchanges between different things. So my Photography, at the moment, accompanies this ... it connects with the thinking and doing of other areas such as Sculpture and Design, and it transforms according to these connections.
Como é o teu processo de criação?
How is your creative process?
Procuro andar ao mínimo 3 vezes por semana cerca de 8 km pelas cidades que vivo/visito, sempre ouvindo musica eletrônica ou jazz (já não consigo andar 100 metros sem música! Fico todo atrapalhado, sem rumo!). Esse é meu momento de captar imagens para futuras criações. Observo os edifícios e as vias e já penso alí o que posso produzir a partir disso. É mesmo um sentir a cidade e procurar transformá-la a partir do que me oferece.
I try to walk at least 3 times a week for about 8 km through the cities I live / visit, always listening to electronic music or jazz (I can no longer walk 100 meters without music! This is my time to capture images for future creations. I look at the buildings and the roads and I already think about what I can produce from that. It is really a feeling of the city and trying to transform it from what it offers me.
Quando iniciaste a série Virtualidades Urbanas?
When did you start the series Virtual Urbanity?
Em 2013 fui contratado por um hotel em São Paulo para produzir imagens para decorar a sua receção e decidi explorar alguns pontos de vista de seu rooftop. Depois de um dia inteiro a fotografar, percebi que um determinado prédio espelhado refletia pela manhã um prédio e à tarde, por questão da posição do sol, um outro diferente. Decidi condensar a imagem destes momentos, antes virtuais, agora cristalizados em uma única obra. Foi a partir dessa imagem que tudo começou.
In 2013 I was hired by a hotel in São Paulo to produce images to decorate your reception and I decided to explore some points of view from your rooftop. After a whole day of photographing, I realized that a particular mirrored building reflected one building in the morning and in the afternoon, due to the position of the sun, a different one. I decided to condense the image of these moments, once virtual, now crystallized in a single work. It was from this image that everything started.
